The Holy Bible of Manson

Marilyn Manson’s iconic eye’s appearance have both turned on and turned off many people throughout the years. A beautiful dark green-esque color iris in his right and a bright ice-blue in his left, many people have always asked, “Why does he wear that one contact”?

The theme of Marilyn Manson has always been about the marriage of opposites. The band’s name comes from the combination of the bright and bubbly Marilyn Monroe to the misunderstood “crazy-man” Charles Manson. The band has always been about two extremes and as Manson has said, “Marilyn Monroe had a dark and evil side as Charles Manson had a bright and good side.”

With this play on opposites, Manson is very clever to have such mismatched eyes. In The Long Hard Road Out of Hell, Manson notes that at a young age, his neighbor molested him and as a result, a very young Brian Warner confessed to his parents what had happened. After a time of not seeing his neighbors, Manson had come home to find his beloved dog, Aleusha, dead in his background from a type of poisoning. He believes his neighbor had done it, to spite him for his confession.

Many people know that the left ice-blue eye serves as a bit of a memorial to Aleusha and that she will always remain in his heart. However, there is more than meets this eye by that fact alone.

Playing on opposites, Manson’s first true love, Missi Romero, had a cat which donned opposite colored eyes.

Marilyn Manson has always cited David Bowie as a large inspiration, even having a tongue-in-cheek tribute to him in his album “Mechanical Animals.” David Bowie, as a result from a fight in school in his youth, has a mismatched eye.

Marilyn Manson has always said that being raised in a Christian school and being subject to learning of the impending apocalypse, he began to obsess over things that were closely linked to it. The widely popular haunting movie “The Omen” scared a young Brian Warner.

It is said  that when Evil drives the Holy Spirit from a possessed priest, it escapes through one of their eyes, changing its colour.

It may just be that Marilyn Manson favors the contact in his left eye and it may not. Manson is notorious for being connected with the Church of Satan and is recognized as a LaVeyan Satanist.

In Satanism, there are both Right-Hand Paths and Left-Hand Paths, LaVeyan Satanism being of the Left-Handed Path.

So, Manson’s infamous contact symbolize more than what people may see at first. Although, it is also a very aesthetically pleasing body modification.
